The Bastié

The Bastié

inspired by a pilot whose influence reached the public imagination of flight itself.

Named in honor of the legendary Maryse Bastié, the first woman pilot featured on a French airmail postage stamp.

A tribute to Maryse Bastié

The French airmail postage stamp was an emblem reserved for aviation figures who represented progress, trust, and national connection. Bastié’s commemoration on the stamp proves the importance of her place in aviation history.

Inspired by the romance and purpose of early air mail service, the Bastié reflects a time when aviation first linked distant places and carried more than passengers. It carried messages, responsibility, and promise.

The design incorporates eyelets as a defining element, shared with the J. Batten, referencing both the functional hardware of early aircraft and the systems that made sustained flight possible. These details echo the era’s focus on utility and movement, while the overall structure remains refined and intentional.

The Bastié honors aviation not as spectacle, but as service, celebrating the role flight played in connecting people and advancing the world forward.
